Meet Merix: Krzysztof - IT Administrator

The brave McGyver, who will fight with any hardware problem in Merixstudio, is Krzysztof. Krzysiek is a person who never stops smiling and who can finds some advantages in any situation, even if it seemed to us that the world has ended. He patiently listens to all the cries of "Krzyyysieeeek, I have no Internet! Krzyyysztooof, the printer is not working!" and removes such problems as if by magic. He runs around the office from one broken thing to another while cracking some jokes (which aren’t always politically correct;)).

  • Tell us something about yourself.
I'm like the 7 Dwarfs in one :)
  • What are your main responsibilities at Merxistudio?
I work in Merixstudio as IT Administrator. It deals with everything related to hardware, software and licenses for the software. But that’s not all - I also was doing some small tasks such as assembling desks or hanging mirrors :) So it looks like I’m a handyman from time to time.
  • How do you work? What is important to you while working?
I work very calmly. I'm always trying to be happy when I’m at work (I hope that people see that). The most important for me is to solve the problems that I am faced when something goes wrong - no matter what needs to be done!
  • Tell us something about your beginnings in the company.
I remember my first day very well. I worked only part-time at that time (but it was soon to be changed because of the amount of work). I went to the office, saw a big pile of cardboard boxes with hardware and received the task of assembling them. :) Everyone knows what happened next... I live happily doing everything I can to make everyone's working environment better :)
  • What have you learned while working in Merixstudio?
I can confidently say that the things that I do in Merix are unique and nearly every problem is new for me. I learned a lot of new things, but listing all of them would take too much time. :)
  • What do you like most about working at Merixstudio
Is there something not to like? :)
  • What was the biggest challenge you faced while working at the Merixstudio?
One time our boss asked if I could change a lightbulb. The problem was that the bulb was 3-4 meters above the floor (the ceiling was so high that it actually might’ve have been even higher). To do so I had to go to the huge ladder, what was quite problematic when you have a fear of heights (like I do). I did not do it the first time, but when I saw that another person was unsuccessful I tried again and got it done! :D
And now a joke - how many people you need to change the lightbulb?
    .
    .
    .
None - you only need Support!
  • What was your first contact with web technologies? When did you make a decision that you want to work in IT?
Web technologies? Well, the first time I have had contact with those was in high school. My first “support job” was when I tried to fix a PC (format of Windows 95). I was 11, maybe 12 years old, and this has resulted in replacing the hard drive and having a ban on computer games. :)
  • What do you think is most difficult (and most interesting) in your work as IT Administrator?
I believe that there are no tricky things - they are just issues that are new to us, such us how to use an overheating processor to fry an egg :) The most interesting would be to do this while keeping the power supply between your teeth.
  • First thing you do when you arrive at the office
I sit on the chair just to stand up that to go and fix something soon. :)
  • iOS or Android?
I’m faithful to Android. Although. If someone wants to give me the iPad Pro with the 13' screen, I could think about switching sides. :)
  • What do you do in your free time after work?
I love lying on the floor and do nothing :)
  • Your favorite hero from childhood is...
I think that someone already mentioned Power Rangers in those interviews. To be specific, I really liked Green Warrior (subsequently, he changed the color to white - as you remember, he received a new power coin when he lost his previous one because of Rita).
  • Favorite place in Poznań.
    Dębiec!
  • Beer or vodka?
    Vodka washed over with beer.
  • Favorite sport.
I used to run, then I tried going to the gym, and now I keep dirty clothes on my weight bench. :)
  • Dog or cat?
I don’t mind either, but in the long run, prefer rats from Ikea. :)
  • Which website do you visit the most?
X-kom.pl – they have the really cool equipment.
  • Favorite app.
Messenger - maybe not the favorite one, but most commonly used.
  • If you could only visit one website for the rest of your life, what site would that be?
If I could order something from it and then have it for myself, I would choose x-kom.pl. I would then spend my time on assembling new computers :)
  • If you could have your dream job, what it would be?
    Subway packer :]

But to be serious, I would like to work with some heavy machinery, such as diggers, rollers, cranes, hoists or bulldozers:)
